Some brands are built on trends. Others are built on values. STS Equestrian falls firmly into the second camp, with every detail rooted in horsemanship, tradition, and a deep love of the horse. It was a joy to bring their brand to life through this summer portrait session at Northstar Equestrian.
Tucked into the lush Wisconsin countryside, Northstar is the kind of barn where horses are treated like family, and riders are encouraged to develop quiet confidence and a true connection with their mounts. It couldn’t have been a more fitting backdrop for a brand like STS.
This session was all about movement, authenticity, and the small, meaningful moments that make up life in the barn, zipping up your shirt while the sun rises, slipping a treat to your horse after a ride, brushing out a mane while chatting with your best friend. We styled the shoot to highlight STS’s signature riding shirts, which are designed to perform in the saddle and look polished out of it. But more importantly, we made sure every frame reflected the brand’s heart: a rider’s quiet determination and unwavering care for the horse beneath them.
Addison and Kendra, two junior riders who train at Northstar, modeled for this session. Both are talented, hardworking, and horse-obsessed in the very best way. They brought so much grace and ease to the morning, and it was clear they felt at home in both the apparel and the environment. The STS shirts moved with them naturally, whether they were riding, grooming, or just taking a quiet moment at their horses’ sides.
As a photographer, my favorite branding sessions are the ones that feel less like a photoshoot and more like a glimpse into someone’s story. That’s exactly what this was: a brand rooted in horsemanship, captured in a place where that ethos is lived every day.
