We started Caitlyn and Gigi’s session in Loxahatchee, Florida with one of my favorite styles—black background equestrian portraits. There’s just something timeless and elegant about the way they showcase every detail, from Gigi’s deep bay coat to her soft expression. These horse portraits always feel like fine art—clean, classic, and made to be treasured.
Horse and Rider Portraits for a Show Jumper Team in Wellington
Next, we moved into capturing classic horse and rider portraits—a must for every equestrian photography session. Caitlyn wore her navy show coat and crisp white breeches, while Gigi looked regal in her bridle and bonnet. They looked absolutely stunning together, representing everything I love about photographing show jumper teams here in Wellington and Loxahatchee.
One of my favorite moments from this session happened on a pathway leading to the arena. The light filtering through the palms was breathtaking, and a gorgeous flowering shrub caught my eye. I knew I had to incorporate it into the composition. Layering the soft pink blossoms in the foreground, I framed Caitlyn and Gigi in a way that made the scene feel ethereal—the navy of Caitlyn’s jacket, the pristine white of her breeches, and Gigi’s rich bay coat coming together in perfect harmony.
Capturing a Dream Portrait with Five Horses
Just when we thought the day couldn’t get better, we brought out Brody, another one of Caitlyn’s horses, for additional portraits. We photographed them in a paddock with classic white fencing, adding another layer of variety to their collection.
But Caitlyn had one more vision in mind—one we had discussed during her initial planning consultation. She wanted a portrait with all five of her horses, a challenge that I was more than ready to take on! After a quick outfit change into a casual white tee and khakis, we carefully positioned each horse for a once-in-a-lifetime portrait. It wasn’t without its obstacles—the arena’s sprinklers nearly soaked us—but in the end, we captured the perfect moment of Caitlyn with her entire equine family.

As the sun dipped low over the arena in Wellington, Florida, we ended the session with golden hour portraits—my favorite time of day for horse and rider photography. The soft light, the bond between Caitlyn and Gigi, and the quiet joy of the moment came together for images that feel like magic. These are the portraits that stay with you.
