A Girl and her OTTB | Senior Portraits with a Horse

Senior Pictures | Platteville, WI

Senior Portraits with a horse are always a delight! Graduation is a time of celebrating the past and dreaming of the future, and what better way to do that than with your four-legged friends by your side? Brooke and her OTTB Gelding had such easy energy between them and I know he'll be by her side through all the big changes coming her way.

I loved how the light from the lovely sunset coated the rolling hills of her family farm with warmth. Their farm had a beautiful treeline and a storybook feel. What a place to live and play with horses and cows all around! As we explored the farm and found the most lovely places for photos, we were joined by the cutest crowd of grass puppies (cows) and by her actual puppy! What a day!

Brooke and her OTTB spend their time dancing in the sandbox, practicing the fundamental movements that make up the sport of Dressage. Dressage is all about demonstrating obedience, adjustability, and a solid relationship between horse and rider built on communication and trust. Coming from a background of racing, many people believe thoroughbreds won't perform well in a discipline that demands patience and rhythm, but Brooke and her gelding are ready to change that idea.

Do you own an OTTB? They are so versatile, willing, and athletic with everything they do. I love to photograph them and hope I get to work with many more in the future.
