For the Moments In-Between | Horse + Rider Session

Candid Portraits with Ava at the Wellington Equestrian Center in Wellington Florida

It has seemingly become a tradition to sneak some photos of Ava and her horses into my Florida trips and I am all here for it! This time I used our visit to brush up on my videography skills while Ava took her two mounts through their paces on the flat, but I also couldn’t resist capturing some great images of those moments in between the work.

Ava is a talented show jumper with Bay Winds Equestrian. I loved seeing her elegant gray mare Isabella enjoy a big, stretchy walk after schooling, followed by a refreshing hose down. Then I got to enjoy Baby C taking a few moments to look around and be the cutest little ham of a horse before he enjoyed a quick bath, too. That face is too much!

My biggest takeaway from this visit was to be sure and take a moment to enjoy the in-between. So often we’re focused on the next show or the next milestone, but when we look back on our life with horses, what we remember most is all the moments that happen in between: how much we love the smell when we hug them, or how they lift their lip when their face gets wet. These moments are the ones that stick around the longest, so be sure to hug your horses extra tight any chance you get and when they stop to take it all in, be sure you do, too!
