Baby Rider Coming Soon! | Horse and Rider Session

Announcement photoshoot with horses in Wisconsin

When Tracy first asked me to photograph her with Morgan and Bailey, her two gorgeous mares, I was so excited. But just before her session, Tracy found out she was expecting and I was THRILLED! With a quick change in plans, we included the sweetest announcement for this big news.

This session was so sweet for so many reasons. Tracy has owned Morgan for 15 years! Together they grew up in 4-H, were members of the Rodeo City Riders Drill Team, and were Rodeo Royalty. But the most special work they did together? Giving lessons through the Horseless Horse Program to young boys and girls who dreamt of owning a horse but didn’t have the ability to own or lease. Making horse-crazy kids’ dreams come true is a truly special thing!

Tracy has also owned Bailey for seven years and describes her as a “spit-fire” and the problem child of the family. Some of the best and most talented horses will really make you work for every little thing, and it’s completely worth it! Surprise change of plans aside, I loved seeing these three together. Morgan’s continuing battle with DSLD may have taken her out of the show ring but she is no less of a vibrant and loving horse. Throw in Bailey’s spice and you have a recipe for a great equestrian family for a little one to join!

Morgan and Bailey had some advice for other horses who are getting brand new baby riders:

“When you’re expecting a brand new rider, there’s a lot to prepare for! As the new baby’s future four-legged best friends, you have to practice being very quiet, walking really smooth, and giving the gentlest nuzzles. Mom is going to need lots of snuggles and for us to be very careful when she visits. The baby will probably scream really loud, but we’ll be there to share cookies and make them laugh and smile again. Then they’ll be riding us around real soon!”

Are you ready to commemorate the bond between you and your horse — or even plan a pregnancy announcement with them? Let’s do it!
