2020 Blooper Reel

As we reach the end of a year that was crazy in more ways than one, I am overcome by a rollercoaster of feelings. In many ways, it’s been one of the most challenging years of my career. The pandemic has changed the way we live, affecting the entire world in ways we could have never imagined possible. But as the year comes to an end, I can’t help but reflect on the time I was able to spend with my clients with appreciation and fondness. In 2020, few things were guaranteed, but finding creative ways to give my clients their perfect session was a challenge I was eager to meet. And regardless of what our sessions were centered on, one thing stayed the same—no matter what, we were bound to end up with a few bloopers!

I take pride in providing my clients with beautiful pictures that celebrate loving relationships and cherished memories. But that doesn’t mean that every shot comes out ready for an Instagram debut. But with that being said, I can’t disregard the fact that some of the ensuing candids of unexpected moments become fast favorites. An unexpected cat making an adorable cameo in a horse and rider session. A gorgeous horse with his tongue sassily sticking out. My clients caught mid-laugh. Or even getting every detail exactly right before pressing the shutter, only for the horse to decide it’s an opportune time to take a bathroom break. Hey, when nature calls, right?

Bloopers remind us not to take ourselves—or life—too seriously, which is why I always enjoy compiling the candids from each session. Sometimes the unexpected shots end up being some of my and my client’s favorites. In fact, it does make me think—maybe these pictures are Instagram ready after all!
