Wellington, Florida Horse & Rider Pictures

Ava, Isabella, and Amari

My time in Wellington, Florida was an incredible highlight of my career. In addition to attending the Equine Photography Retreat, I relished the time spent with many other like-minded photographers and admirable equestrians. I love the state of Florida, too, and it was incredible to get to explore Wellington further and drive the Florida Keys. While my week in Florida was non-stop action, I was thrilled to sneak in a photography session with Ava De Caster. Ava is a fellow Wisconsin gal who happens to show in Wellington. She’s an amazing sportswoman. She shows her stunning horses in Wellington during the Winter Equestrian Festival, and neither of us could pass up the chance to collaborate.

Our session took place at the Wellington Equestrian Center and the bridle path near the show grounds. We included Ava’s grey mare, Isabella, and her bay gelding, Amari, in the shoot. Ava’s passion for her horses was apparent as she introduced me to them and explained her equestrian background in further detail. While she loves all of her horses, she adores stallions and prefers their temperament to mares and geldings.

I really enjoyed coming to know Ava better. She is an awesome young lady with talent and intelligence to spare. Her maturity and business-minded outlook are evident in everything she says and does. It is easy to see that she can attribute much of her success to her sincere passion for her horses and showing. And being my first time in Wellington, Ava was an invaluable resource. I had so many questions, and she was ready with answers to each one of them.

The day was incredibly warm, which was a welcome relief from the blustery Wisconsin winter back home. Ava and I spent the session in the company of Gabriel, Ava’s stepfather and trainer whom she affectionally calls Gabby, and my husband, Chris, who both helped out behind the scenes. The horses were lovely to work with and eager to please, and I was delighted with the session results. In fact, I loved the subsequent images so much that I incorporated them into the sample album I use to show prospective clients!

My session with Ava reminded me of one of the many reasons I love my job. It is much more profound for me than a simple career. I am genuinely interested in my clients and their horses, and I enjoy building real relationships with them and following their successes. I can’t wait to see what amazing things Ava and her horses will accomplish.

Suppose you are an equestrian looking to capture your relationship with your horses. In that case, I hope that you will consider me as your photographer. I do more than capture your successes on camera—I will be right there with you, celebrating every step of the way.
