There are horses you ride… and then there are horses that become a part of your soul. For Raesha, her Friesian mare, Alina, is exactly that kind of horse.
We began this evening portrait session at the stunning Northstar Equestrian in Green Bay, Wisconsin, with timeless black background portraits of her three heart horses: Alina, the elegant Friesian mare; Levi, her steadfast gelding; and Bandit, her daughter’s newly leased horse. The lighting was soft, the barn was quiet, and the connection between each horse and handler was undeniable.
Raesha’s session was designed not only to celebrate her bond with Alina but also to capture the legacy she’s building through her daughters, Aubrey and Vienna. All three wore dreamy pastel dresses. Raesha in a soft sage green two-piece, her daughters in flowing soft blue and cream. Together, they brought a modern fairytale to life, standing barefoot on the gravel path, surrounded by warm golden light and the gentle presence of their horses.
After their mother-daughter portraits, the spotlight shifted to Raesha and Alina alone. A bold gold dress added a striking pop against Alina’s coal-black coat. Whether standing on the hillside, hand resting on her mare’s back, or riding bareback in a soft pink blouse as the sun dipped toward the trees, Raesha radiated the confidence and calm of someone completely at home in the presence of her horse.
This was more than a portrait session, it was a love letter. To a horse. To a family. To a life built around the animals who shape us.
It’s clear that her love of horses runs deep, and even more beautiful is how that love is being passed down to her girls. The sense of pride, peace, and joy was present in every frame.
