Fall Senior Pictures

New London Class of 2020

These past few years as a photographer have taught me many things, but there is one thing that will always ring true—the weather will not always cooperate. Regardless of how much time and energy is spent into organizing the perfect session, nature oftentimes couldn’t care less. Despite the unpredictably of it all, especially here in central Wisconsin, I have found that even when the weather is acting up, everything generally works out okay in the end! At least, that was the case for Alex’s senior session a couple of months ago. The day started with fierce, powerful winds that made me reach out to Alex’s mom, Kristine, to see if she wanted to reschedule as I didn’t want Alex’s horse Chip to spook. I don’t like to have to reschedule, but the safety of my clients and their pets is always my number one priority. But Alex’s family never received my call and showed up right on time at my client exclusive location in Seymour, Wisconsin. I was thrilled they made it and we jumped right into preparations, but the weather was not done with us yet. While Alex was getting her hair and makeup done, courtesy of the amazing Angela Marie Makeup Artistry, the sky opened up and it started to snow heavily. It was such a strange juxtaposition of thick, heavy snowflakes falling against a backdrop of bright autumn colors and dark, wintery skies. It was beautiful, but not exactly what we were going for! The snow gradually turned to rain and, if you can believe it, the sun decided to finally show up! The afternoon was beautiful, and the scenery was aglow. I was thankful we decided to patiently wait out such a strange weather soup! I loved chatting with Alex’s parents, Kristine and Paul, and getting to know their family a bit better. It was a particularly personal session for myself as I have known Chip since he was just a young horse. When I was younger, I took lessons at the barn that his previous owner was at. It was such a neat experience to have him in Alex’s session and to see where his life has taken him. He is part of such a beautiful and loving family, and it always makes my heart happy to see old friends living out their best lives. Our session was a blast thanks to the positive and fun energy Alex and her family brought to the day. While senior pictures are a personal experience, it made the day all the more special to have Alex’s parents with us to celebrate her exciting accomplishments. There was a constant circulation of warm conversation and laughter-inducing banter, and we ended the day with a plethora of gorgeous photos that I hope Alex and her family will cherish for the years to come. I want every senior session to feel just as special—and remember, the weather doesn’t stand a chance when it comes to getting in between you and your perfect photos!
