I’m holding fast to summer memories as the winter months begin to envelop us in shorter days and colder temps. There is something undeniably beautiful and peaceful about a crisp winter day, but I’m an advocate for the memory of a summer day. The kind of day that falls effortlessly between hot and cool, with stretching hours of warm sunshine blanketing the world in a golden glow. It was this kind of perfect day that I set out with Olivia and her gelding Bill to capture Olivia’s senior pictures, and it’s this kind of day I try to remember when the winter days begin to feel too cold.

Olivia was, to put it simply, a delight to work with. I loved getting to spend time with her and her darling gelding, Bill. He was the absolute sweetest! And the two of them worked so well together. He was eager to show off his best and most camera-ready behavior, as shown by the resulting beautiful pictures. The lovely weather put us all in such happy moods, despite the pesky bugs that were still clinging on to what was left of summer’s warmth. The setting sun against the fields of tall grass made for the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing afternoon of pleasant conversation and candid picture moments.

Olivia took full advantage of my client exclusive perks, and I was so excited to be able to offer her a wide range of options when it came to location, wardrobe, and hair and makeup. My client exclusive location in Seymour, Wisconsin, has everything from rolling fields and dense woods to sloping meadows and a small yet pretty pond. We took full advantage of the setting sun and the natural light gave a soft glow to nearly every picture.

Olivia also wore pieces of clothing from my client exclusive wardrobe, and I loved how each piece she chose added such a unique element to each photo. The sunflower dress is very cute and country chic, while the purple dress is perfect for the bareback rider who is all about the glam. The contrast between the outfits was so much fun to play around with. Angela Marie Makeup and Artistry was behind the scenes to lend her hand to creating Olivia’s beautiful look. The long curls complemented by the soft makeup came together just right for the natural look we were going for.

Senior pictures have always been a favorite of mine. It is an honor to be a part of such a monumental moment in a young person’s life. I always enjoy the variety that comes with the experience—each and every senior is different in what they are looking for in their pictures. I believe that every student is deserving of the senior pictures of their dreams.
