Mackenzie, Lucky, and Leila

Have you ever had a goal that seemed impossible to reach? Or have you ever desired to develop a skill or talent but you didn’t know where to start? I think we have all been there. The desire to learn and grow is a wonderful quality, but sometimes we set goals for ourselves without taking the steps to reach them. But when someone is really passionate about what they believe in, all the obstacles become seemingly less daunting. That is something I really appreciated when I met Mackenzie and her two show horses, Lucky and Leila. Learning about her experience reminded me that all anyone really needs is zeal and hard work to accomplish a personal goal.

Mackenzie is a young, talented horsewoman who competes on a national level with her two horses and best friends Leila, a Paint, and Lucky, a Palomino. The bond shared between these three was incredibly touching, and both horses adore Mackenzie. Leila is an APHA registered paint horse that has been trained solely by Mackenzie and is still quite young at only 3 years old. Lucky is an AQHA registered Palomino Quarter horse that has taken Mackenzie to several shows. With both Leila and Lucky, Mackenzie shares a unique relationship, and she dedicates much of her time to training both horses as the three of them continue to develop their skills without any professional lessons or training. Mackenzie is all about a hands-on approach, and her hard work and dedication are paying off!

Our session took place at Dan Lynch Farms in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. I can hardly begin to describe how beautiful this location is, but I will certainly try. Situated on 280 rolling acres in the southern part of the state, the farm describes itself as a friendly community that caters to riders of all levels of experience and offers a sanctuary for countless horses. I loved exploring the grounds with Mackenzie and meeting many of its four-legged tenants. The day was incredibly hot, but the ample shade gave us necessary comfort and the day began to cool down as the sun set beyond the hills. Angela Marie Makeup Artistry did hair and makeup, and her work held up impeccably even in the muggy heat. Mackenzie looked gorgeous!

During our equine photography session, I loved hearing about Mackenzie’s most recent accomplishments with her horses. Just this year Mackenzie brought Leila to the Pinto World Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they placed in both the Top 5 and the Top 10 tiers. They even made it to the finals of showmanship out of 30 other competitors, and this was all accomplished without a single showmanship lesson. Shortly after our session, Lucky and Mackenzie were headed to the Palomino World show, where they placed 3rd in the youth trail competition. Mackenzie has such a natural talent and competes impressively, and I can’t wait to see whatever she does next.

No matter what your passion is, I want to be there to document the momentous and special accomplishments in your life. When you work so hard to accomplish a goal, you deserve to be recognized! I take pride in showcasing the very best of my clients in natural, candid environments, highlighting their true interests and personalities. No matter what your accomplishment is, I look forward to helping you celebrate.
